Dr. Michael Leibowitz is a Certified Hypnotherapist in Ireland and a Registered Hypnotherapist with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (UK).
Originally from South Africa, Michael has over thirty years’ experience in psychotherapy practice, much of which has been psychodynamic and psychoanalytic work with adults. In addition to working in South Africa, Michael has practiced in South East England and latterly Ireland.
Michael’s application of Clinical Hypnosis would be predicated on Freud’s conceptual framework of the topographical structure of the human mind. It is of some note that Freud incorporated many of his observations and insights concerning hypnotic phenomena into the dynamics of Psychoanalysis. He respectfully acknowledges that Clinical Hypnosis paved the way for Psychoanalysis to develop (Freud, 1914/1958, p.148) and later wrote: “we do not forget how much encouragement and theoretical classification we owe to it [hypnosis]” (Freud, 1917/1963, p.462).
